If you are considering becoming a certified nursing assistant in Pennsylvania, you are probably wondering what is involved. The CNA training in Pennsylvania Requirements include graduation from an approved program, a passing score on the Pennsylvania Nurse Competency Exam, followed by placement on the State Nurse Aid Registry. As a nurse’s assistant, you will be entering a dynamic field, where you will work closely with RNs, who in turn assist doctors.
The first thing you will need to do is locate approved training programs in your area. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has compiled a list of programs that can aid in your search. You must also meet certain eligibility requirements, including a minimum age of 16 and proficiency in basic skills, such as math and language arts. You must also pass a criminal background check and be tested for infectious diseases.
Once you are accepted into a CNA training class in Pennsylvania, you will be required to complete 120 hours of classroom instruction, 75 to satisfy federal requirements and 45 to satisfy further state requirements. Upon completion of your training, you must take the nurse aide certification exam, made up of 70 questions to be answered in 90 minutes.
After passing the exam, you will have satisfied Pennsylvania class training requirements and will then be ready to begin your new career, which, according to state numbers, will experience significant growth for the foreseeable future.
