In Kentucky Patient Care Technicians are also known as advanced nursing assistants or ER Techs. Kentucky patient care technician job duties may include assisting with wound care, catheters, escorting patients to treatment areas, collection of specimens like urine and blood, sterile tray setup, documentation, performing EKG's, assist with oxygen delivery, suction, assist with exams, lab testing and many other.
The Kentucky patient care technician program allows the student to sit for the
- State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) exam,
- the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT),
- the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam, and
- the Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam.
